Mr. Bartling serves as the President and CEO of Invitation Homes, a Blackstone (NYSE: BX) Real Estate portfolio company and the leader in single-family homes for rent across the United States with 47,000 homes and $9.5 billion of investment.Mr. Bartling has more than 25 years’ experience in real estate including serving as the Global Co-Head of Real Estate for Ares Management LLC, a global alternative asset manager with more than $66 billion under management.In this role, Mr. Bartling led Ares’ acquisitions of Wrightwood Capital, AREA Property Partners, and Alliant Capital, as well as the initial public offering of Ares Commercial Real Estate Corporation, where he served as its Co-Chief Executive Officer, a member of its Board of Directors, and the Chairman of its Investment Committee.From 2007 through its acquisition by Ares in 2010, Mr. Bartling was the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of AllBridge Investments, LLC. AllBridge was a portfolio company of Ares Capital Corporation.Beginning in 2000, Mr. Bartling served as President and CEO of WMC Management Company, LLC, a privately held real estate operating company with more than 3,000 employees and had such clients as Olympus Real Estate Partners, Arnold Palmer Golf Management, Walden Residential Properties, Inc., and Hyphen Solutions. During his tenure at WMC Management, Mr. Bartling took Walden Residential private, thereby acquiring and managing 142 properties with 39,640 apartment units as well as received fees for managing an additional 15 properties with 4,245 apartment units.Prior to that, Mr. Bartling served as the CEO and President of Lexford Residential Trust, Inc., a publicly-held multi-family REIT. Lexford Residential Trust owned and managed 402 apartment communities throughout the Midwest and Southeast United States.Before LFT, Mr. Bartling served as Director of the Real Estate Products Group of Credit Suisse First Boston. Prior to CSFB, Mr. Bartling served as an Executive Vice President of NHP Incorporated as well as positions at Trammell Crow Residential and Mellon Bank, NA.Mr. Bartling has served on the Board of Directors of APGM, the Children’s Hospital Research for Ohio State University, the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies: Leadership Forum on Pension Fund and Endowment Investments in Domestic Emerging Markets, Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association of Columbus, Ohio and the NMHC Board of Directors. Additionally, he has served on the Executive Council and as Chairman of the Finance Committee for the National Multi Housing Council. Mr. Bartling won the BBB Business Integrity Award for Lexford, Inc in 1996 and was a judge for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. He was the co-founder of Caring Partners for Kids, awarded the 2004 Community Service Award by Multifamily Executive, and served on the Strategic Planning Committee of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas.Mr. Bartling received a B.S. in Marketing from Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
